You don’t have to go far out of your way to show a girl a great time in our nation’s Capital. There’s something for any type of situation or mood you might want to set – which is greatly appreciated, as you will meet people of all backgrounds there!

For restaurants that cater to any palate, be sure to explore Georgetown and Dupont Circle. Two of my favorites in Georgetown include Zed’s Ethiopian Restaurant – which serves amazing Beef Kaey Watt (beef cubes in red pepper sauce) which is complemented perfectly by their honey wine, and is not unreasonably priced – and Amma – a great vegetarian Indian restaurant that serves an amazing Masala Dosa (a type of South Indian crepe filled with potato masala) for very reasonable prices. There are also several great steak and barbeque places for more relaxed evenings with your significant other.

For the new students in town, you can’t go wrong with a walk through the monuments by moonlight. I can assure that you will both enjoy the experience. One of my favorite spots includes the Albert Einstein memorial, which lies nearby the Lincoln Memorial. The statue itself is beautifully crafted, but even better holds a secret which you can only experience by standing in the middle of his star chart.

Daytime rendezvous at the museum are always well recommended – especially the National Art Gallery. Scenic spots such as the art gallery, the National Arboretum and even Roosevelt Island not only provide a great background, but an open and no-pressure environment for getting to know one another and share an appreciation.

My advice for any guy new to DC is to not stick to convention when taking a girl out, but instead be inventive and take advantage of all the city has to offer. Clubs and bars only go so far, and there are many better ways to spend time with a special someone in DC.
