Villanova has 18 dormitory style residence halls and 8 apartment style residence halls. The halls are located on the main, south, and west campuses. Freshmen sophomores and juniors can live on campus. The seniors that can live on campus are nursing majors, female engineering majors and scholarship recipients whose scholarship allows for it.

The housing lottery is based on when you send your deposit in; that is your chance of being able to live in your first or second choice housing depends on when the school receives your housing deposit. All campus housing has resident advisors. Students say that the involvement of RA's decreases as you rise in class level. Freshmen will have the most involved RA's and they will become increasingly less with sophomores and so on. All of the beds in campus housing are standard twin but extra-long mattresses can be requested and are distributed based on need.

west apartments

Consisting of eight buildings for upper-classmen, these apartments are very popular. With four students to an apartment, students can choose two double bedrooms or four single bedrooms. They also have a living room and a kitchen. It is a short walk to main campus.

Residents of the West Campus Apartments have access to a gym in Farley Hall. It is equipped with Life Cycles, Stairmasters, and weight lifting equipment. In addition, there are basketball and volleyball courts behind the apartments.

Each building has laundry facilities, which depending upon what apartment building you live in, are located on either the second or first floor. You can pay for using the washers and dryers through your Wildcard. In the lobby of each building, there are machines which can convert cash to chips on your Wildcard.

Students say that the apartments are kind of the creme-dela-creme as far as on campus housing goes. Most of the students who live in these buildings are juniors, but there are some seniors.

On South Campus there are six residence halls: Caughlin, Good Counsel, McGuire, Moriarty, Stanford, Katharine, and St. Monica. All of the dorms on South Campus house only freshmen with the exception of Good Counsel where both freshmen and sophomores live. Stanford is the largest dorm; it is co-ed and with about 500 residents. Moriarty is the smallest with only 50 male and female residents. Caughlin and McGuire are twin buildings that house 120 residents each. Katharine and St. Monica are next to each other and 160 students live in each building. Good Counsel is co-ed by wing and about 240 freshmen and sophomores live in this hall.

It has a coffee shop, a fitness center, and basketball, tennis, and volleyball courts. Donahue hall is the place to eat when you live on South campus. It offers a deli, grill, pizza, salad bar, dessert bar, and made-to-order Chinese. There is also a convenience store that stays open late. Each student living in the room has a bed, desk, desk chair, desk shelves, and a wardrobe with drawers or a closet and dresser. The rooms are not very big, but freshmen dorms at most schools will not be giant suites.

Students say that South Campus is a great place to live your freshmen year because you are in the same position as everyone else who is starting at a new school. They say that it is really easy to meet people and make new friends during your first year. There are plenty of mixer activities planned by the halls to allow for this. Stanford Hall is not the newest building on campus but it is a favorite for students because they feel that you meet so many more people and there is always something going on. The opposite is true with Moriarty; many former residents feel that they were "cut off" from the other freshmen and it was a bit harder to meet new people.

Villanova sophomores can live at either of these dormitory residences located on main campus. The two dorms encompass the Quad, which is a popular hangout for students. The dorms are co-ed by floor. Laundry facilities and bathrooms are located on each floor. There are also study lounges.

In Sheehan, you can live in a single or a double. In Sullivan you can live in a single, double, triple, or quad. Both halls house about 400 students each. Each room features a bed, wardrobe, desk, desk chair, and a small dresser in the closet for each student in the room.

The buildings are right near Bartley Hall which is the College of Commerce and Finance, so it is really convenient for business majors. It is a great location to be involved and in the middle of where everything is going on. It is also great because the Quad serves as your front yard. Students are always spending time at this hang out spot; on warm days students can be seen studying, playing pick up games of football or Frisbee, and just enjoying the scenery. However, they are not the best rooms and are on the small side. Most Students say it is the best place to live for sophomore year.
