A live Wildcat served as the mascot until 1950 and it was determined that a student would dress up in a costume as a Wildcat and the tradition has continued since.

Men's Basketball is so popular with students, alumni, and fans that it can take up to five years to purchase games at the Pavilion. For students to acquire tickets, they need to enter a lottery about a week prior to each game. Instructions are done via e-mail as are results.

Football tickets for students are easy to come by; for each game a student just needs to present their WildCard to get in.

Getting tickets for all other Villanova sports is not usually a concern because the seating is usually more than sufficient.
