On Patrol

Even though Villanova is considered a Philadelphia school, it is in a suburban setting. This alone contributes to the safety of the

campus because of the neighborhood feel of the surrounding areas. Safety and security is run by the Department of Public Safety. They are located in Farrell Hall. The campus is well lit and students say that they generally feel safe walking around the campus during both day and night.

Safety Services

The Department of Public Safety at Villanova provides a variety of services including emergency call boxes, patrol services, shuttle service, escort service, student security, and rape defense classes (RAD).

Campus Police

Villanova employs 76 campus security officers. They patrol the campus and all have two-way radios on their person.

Theft

Although for the most part students say that they feel the campus is safe, there are still rare occasions of theft. The most common item stolen is a laptop. Students should use discretion and not leave their belongings unattended and always lock their dorm rooms and apartments when they are not home. Lost or stolen items can be reported at 610-519-6979.

Residence Security

Most of the dorm and apartment buildings have resident hall desk attendants in the lobby of the building. In cases where there is lack of a desk attendant, students must swipe their WildCard to be granted access to the building. This is usually the case in the late evening and early morning.

Call Boxes

There are emergency call boxes located throughout campus in case of an emergency. The boxes automatically connect to campus security. Campus tour guides say that the only time that the boxes were used in a real emergency was when a mother on a tour had a heart attack.

Hospital

Lankenau Hospital is on Lancaster about 10 minutes away from the University. The hospital is located at 100 E Lancaster Ave in Wynnewood, PA. The phone number is (610) 645-2000.

Police Station

The closest police station is the Radnor Township Police Station. It is a little over a mile from campus and is located at 301 Iven Ave, Wayne, PA 19087. The phone number is (610) 688-0500.
