At Villanova, the student to teacher ratio is 12:1. This is a pretty good number and means that in the majority of classes teachers will know your name. However some of your classes will have three or four times the average student to teacher ratio in your class.

The Classes

You will take some lecture hall classes. The majority of these will most likely be classes that you take your first year at Villanova. In general core GER courses will have a lecture setting. The lecture halls seat 126, but are rarely more than 40 students. The average class size at Villanova is 22 students. The majority of classes are lecture or discussion. The format of the class you take will depend on the discipline it concentrates on. For example, Philosophy classes will have more discussion, which Accounting classes will be more of a lecture format.

Villanova Classrooms

The quality of the classrooms really depends on what building it is in. Villanova has recently renovated many of the buildings and built some new ones. The coolest classroom is in Bartley Hall, which is the business building. It is the Applied Finance Lab is has great features such as flat screen televisions, a Wall Street Ticker, and three-screen computers at each desk. They even had to ban cell phones from this room because students were using them to buy and sell stocks during class. The Villanova engineering department facilities are state-of-the-art.

Professor Accessibility

Students say that in general the professors are willing to meet with you outside of class time. Take advantage of office hours. Professors also respond quickly to e-mails but if you have a ton of questions then it is really better to call them or meet with them in person.
