Homecoming
Article written by an anonymous user.
Although Temple's football team is nothing to brag about, the big game is not the only thing students have to look forward to during this weeklong event in October. School spirit is in full effect, with everyone sporting their Temple hoodies and hats. Organizations and clubs all set up booths around the Bell Tower area, and there is food and plenty of activities to keep students occupied during their breaks between classes. Students also enjoy special events such as a comedy show, a just-for-fun football game, and bands playing. Each year there is something different to look forward to at Homecoming. This past year, Student government and the Office of Student Activities sponsored a "senior citizen's prom," in which students host an afternoon of food and dancing for area senior citizens.

Other Events to Look Forward To

In the spring and fall, there is a band showcase at the Bell Tower. Bands sign up ahead of time, and everyone gets to perform.
There are also a couple block parties during the year. Similar to Homecoming and Spring Fling, the block parties include food, music, and games.
In the beginning of each semester, Taste of Philly lets students experience all the different kinds of food Philadelphia is known for. Students can go to the Student Center to sample food from different restaurants around the area. Food choices range from famous cheesesteaks, to Indian cuisines, to pizza.
Finally, as if graduation isn't enough to look forward to, students are lucky enough to have an awesome commencement speaker. Alumni Bill Cosby finishes off every year at Temple by giving a speech at graduation. Rather than dozing off during some boring speech, students look forward to seeing the celebrity on their last day at Temple.

Spring Fling
Article written by an anonymous user.
Held in April, another week-long event similar to Homecoming is Spring Fling. Organizations, sports teams, fraternities and sororities all set up booths around the Bell Tower area, Berks Mall and Liacouras walk. In addition to food and music, Spring Fling features fun activities such as a basketball shootout, an amateur band showcase, and even a rock-climbing wall. At the end of the week, there is usually a party or dance to close out the activities. Students enjoy Spring Fling because it occurs right when the weather is starting to get nice again, and everyone is in the mood for summer.
