Starting out as a freshman I thought drinking in my buddy's basement (21 and legal of course) was a good time, and it is. But temple opens you up to every option in the partying world.
Basic Good Time:
You can party in your Philly apartment while playing a little xbox-one of my favorite activities-and somehow, if you're as smooth as myself chicks will be there. You can go to some random dudes house party and dominate in beer pong a game where only the strong survive. You can go to a party that some chicks from your hometown are throwing (if you're from ANYWHERE in PA you will absolutely run into people from your hometown)...and see where the night takes you.
Some More Ideas:
You can test the frat party scene, even though it wasn't my thing - as long as you bring your friends you'll have a good time. Or you can kick it at the countless awesome bars Philadelphia has to offer.
Bottom Line:
I graduated from temple in '05 and after visiting friends at schools all over the east coast, if i could do it all over again I'd go Temple.

Synonymous Partying
Article written by an anonymous user.
There are some schools where nightlife and party scene are synonymous, and there are other schools where the party scene is nonexistent. Students at some schools out in the middle of nowhere have nothing to do but throw parties. Students at schools located in big cities might only go out to bars or clubs. Because it is located in a city, but also with plenty of colleges in the surrounding suburbs, Temple students can choose whether they want to go barhopping, clubbing, or partying around town. Being at a large university with such a diverse student body means that whether you are looking for a small get-together of friends, or a huge rave, you will find someplace to go.
It is important to note you are in North Philadelphia so you cannot easily walk to center city, therefore, if you are planning to go out to bars/ clubs/ restaurants/ opera/ concerts etc, it will take some extra planning and maybe a little more money for transportation.

Party with the Greeks
Article written by an anonymous user.
One of the most well-known organizations for party-throwing at Temple is Greek Life. Although there are no official frat houses on campus, the Greeks throw parties in off-campus apartments and houses that one or a few of them may live in. These parties tend to get really big, and most attract underclassmen who have yet to turn 21. The good thing about going to parties as opposed to bars is that they are free, or at least relatively cheap. Most frats will not charge you, but if they do it is usually $5 or less. Girls get let into all the parties, although guys might have trouble getting into these parties if they are not involved in the frat. Guys, make sure you know someone in the frat or at the party who will vouch for you.

Theme Parties
Article written by an anonymous user.
Theme parties are not that common at Temple. Students tend to view parties more as a fashion show, and would rather not have to dress up in costume when they can show off a new outfit they just bought. The Greeks are known for throwing the occasional toga party, but other than that, theme parties are not that big. Sororities or clubs might throw themed mixers, such as 80's night, or CEO's and Secretaries parties or Luau-themed parties, but these are usually invite only, and dressing in costume is mandatory.

Upperclassmen Only, Please
Article written by an anonymous user.
As students get older, huge parties tend to be few and far between. The over-21 crowd prefers to go to bars, and when they do have parties, they are usually kept small, and are only for those over-21. This is also as a result of juniors or seniors having their set group of friends, and not wanting to hang out with anyone else. Freshmen are always eager to go to big parties to meet new people and make more friends, while upperclassmen are content with the groups of friends they have, and would rather go out to the bars to meet new people.

- Just because you are not involved in Greek life does not mean you will not have a social life. Although frats are pretty much the only source for big parties at Temple, other clubs and organizations know how to have a good time too. Getting involved in clubs in college is always a good idea, and partying with your new group of friends is an added perk. Organizations such as Student Government set up events, concerts, and get-togethers, and a couple times a year they may rent out a hall to throw...
