Going to malls is nice, but what is really cool about living in a city is the shopping areas that are easy and fast to get to ? either on foot or by train or bus. Take the train to Suburban Station, and you are a couple blocks away from Rittenhouse Square, one of the best shopping areas in the city. While there are plenty of stores situated along the square, walk a couple blocks in any direction and you will still be surrounded by even more shops. Walnut Street is especially known for its shopping. Here you'll find stores such as Anthropologie, Barnes & Noble, Kiehl's, Burberry, Puma, Diesel, and Tiffany & Co. Also located in the area is the famous Boyd's department store, and a huge four-floor Urban Outfitters that is a big hit with college students. Make sure to come here on a nice day, however, because when you get tired from shopping you will want to retreat to the park area of the square. Here there are plenty of benches to sit and people watch, and there is surprisingly a lot of grass and trees for a center-city spot.

South Street Rendering

If you are looking for a more trendy, hip place to shop, South Street is the place to go. Take a cab, or take the subway to Walnut-Locust and walk a couple blocks to South Street, and between 10th and Front Street is where you will find the commercial area. Also, make sure to go down the side streets because some of the best spots are hidden here. Do not expect to find many chain stores in the area. Instead, go into some of the trendy designer boutiques like Bella Boutique and Trunk Show boutique for something a little different. Definitely stop into some of the vintage stores as well, such as Retrospect, Decades Vintage, Time Zone, and The Curiosity Shoppe.

Remember, South Street is not just for shopping for clothes. There are some really cool stores such as Creative Signs & Airbrushing, Eargasm, a store for car accessories such as stereos, a magic store called Hocus Pocus, and Bluebond Guitars, which sells guitars along with other instruments. Don't forget to check out some of the antique stores, jewelry stores, book stores, music stores, and art galleries ? South Street has something for everyone.

Drive about 25 minutes away from Center City and you will find a mall like no other. King of Prussia Mall is actually two malls, the Plaza and the Court. KOP, as it is sometimes referred to, is a shopper's paradise. There are over 400 stores and restaurants, for shoppers of all kinds. KOP has any kind of store you could ever think of, but it is not known for its everyday stores. KOP is known for its wide variety of luxury stores, ranging from Armani Exchange to Louis Vuitton to Cartier to Hermes. You name it ? KOP's got it. Beware, though, because this is not the kind of place you want to shop if you are tired or hungover.
