Rock the Vote

Some people may think that San Francisco State students are more focused on having a good time than anything else. However, even I was a little surprised to see that this isn't the case for most students. I got a first-hand glance at just how involved the students here are. On election day, my roommates and I had to wait in line for three hours with our fellow Gators just to vote! It is true that there was free ice cream being offered to people that voted, but I don't think that was the only thing that motivated students to fulfill their civic duty. Students at SF State are genuinely interested in the world they live in, at least the majority. I think it is something that became more apparent when we all got to college. Along with realizing that we are now going to be treated like adults, we realized that we should probably start to think like them to. This realization combined with a new power to vote has inspired the students to 'rock the vote'. It was a cool experience to stand in line and see people I already knew and to also meet some new people, but we were all there to put our opinions down and I thought that was pretty cool.
