SJU Club Swimming

Being our first year as a team at St. Joe's, the season went really well. We had a group of about 15 solid members, and next year we are really looking to increase that number and become more competitive. We practiced twice a week, and next season we are looking to move that number up to about 3 or 4 times a week. We begin late September/ early October and end in March. Everyone on swimming is really great, and we all had a good time together. We recently just competed in our first invitational meet at U Penn, and finished somewhere in the middle out of 9 teams. It was a really great experience, and we hope to be

attending many more meets next year and in the years to come. Club swimming is great because it doesn't take up much time, but if you love the sport you can still get your fill.We have a very talented group, with swimmers of all abilities, the team is for both boys and girls, so if you are interested definitely give it a try!

Capoeira at SJU

Coming from Sao Paulo, BR, Mestre Doutor has brought the "American Society of Capoeira and Arts from Brazil" or "Associao Santista de Capoeira Areia Branca" (ASCAB) to the United States over 10 years ago. ASCAB is a style of capoeira that has made its home in Philadelphia and now will be available at Saint Joseph's University. The ASCAB style of capoeira allows freedom of expression through movement and creativity. Learn about the traditions of Brazil, capoeira, while learning more about yourself. Research the Associao Santista de Capoeira Areia Branca and their involvement within Club Sports at SJU by following the links below. You may also search "Mestre Doutor" or "ASCAB" in YouTube to see the art in motion.
