I attended Drexel University but had many friends at neighboring Penn and Temple universities. The more rural schools such as Saint Joes and Villanova offer great academic programs. There are always things to do at all the campuses.

Philadelphia's boat house row is located on the east bank of the Schuylkill river. There are ten historic boat houses located on Kelly Drive. The Philadelphia boat houses are viewed as centers of the rowing community around the United States. Boat house row hosts several major nationwide events including the Navy Day Regatta and the Independence Day Regatta. Boat house row is home to every sort of amateur competition from junior rowing to college rowing.
Between Kelly Drive and the boat houses is a nice exercise path. The sidewalk actually runs from Drexel's campus, past the art museum and continues a long way past boathouse row. It is an excellent place for a jog or a bike ride and is probably one of the most popular exercise routes in Philadelphia. The only negative aspect is that there is very limited parting on Kelly Drive. However if you are looking for a good run or bike ride then boat house row and Kelly Drive are the perfect option.
At night, the outlines of each boat house are lit up and it makes for a very pretty site along the Schuylkill River. The best place to view boat house row at night is from the other side of Schuylkill River on West River Drive.
