Loyola University Chicago: Mundelein College

As a Liberal Arts major, many of my classes were held in Dumbach Hall, which is like having class outside, minus all the inspiration and freedom of the outdoors. When it's cold outside, it's cold in Dumbach. I actually walked to another building to use the restroom because the one in Dumbach's basement was windy. I took a course on Milton in Dumbach that started in August and the first month or so you felt like you were in an inferno.

The old Mudelein Building or "SKY" is kind of cool. It used to be a Catholic women's teaching college and my grandma went there back in the day. There's a rumor that a nun attending college there died in the building. If you try using that as an excuse for missing class, I hope you have more luck than I did. Because the big foreboding statues around the entranceway, the best thing about "SKY" is the greenhouse room up on the 6th or 7th floor I think (it's been a while). It's this greenhouse with couches and stuff where there are open mics sometimes and most of the time it's just empty or people sitting around chilling. I'm a fiend for natural light so I enjoyed the greenhouse a lot. SKY also has an auditorium on the first floor. Howard Dean came and spoke there back in 2004.

Next to SKY is Damon Hall. Damon is your standard 1970s style building, but with a twist-an escalator that ascends the entire building gets flooded with students in between class periods, which feels very much like high school. I'm like where is Jordan Catalano? Oh, that's right. He's at Tino's party.

The Granada building freaks me out. I partied with some people who lived there once, fell asleep on their couch and had horrible nightmares of falling out a window to my death. On a scale of 1 to 10, I give Loyola's buildings a inconclusive.
