Living in DC is great, driving not so much. Apparently they designed the city to make navigation difficult for an invading army. It didn't work in 1812, but driving remains a pain in the ass. And parking is usually at a meter, garage, or for on the street for two hours only unless your car has DC tags. Fortunately there are plenty of alternative ways to get around. Cabs are everywhere but start to add up at 10-15 dollars a ride. The metro is modern and clean, but there's no stop in Georgetown. However, the university sponsors a free bus service called GUTS. It comes by every 15 minutes and has stops at the university, Rosslyn and Dupont Circle which are the two closest metro stations. The weather is pretty mild so riding a bike or walking are reasonable options year round. Watch out for joggers, because they're everywhere. The university also sponsors a cab service called Safe Ride that will pick you up and drop you off anywhere in the vicinity of campus. It keeps costs down while party hopping and coming home from the local bars.
