Table Tennis IS NOT Ping Pong

Drexel University has yet again managed to make national headlines by hosting the Olympic Table Tennis Trials. The trials took place January 10th through the 13th at the DAC, Drexel University's Athletic Center. Plenty of ping ponging took place and in the end prevailed a champion ping ponger-aka "Professional Table Tennis Athlete". Table Tennis--also known as the greatest sport to have ever been created--captivates audiences all over the world, and the fact that Drexel University was able to host such an event is great for the university's image, the student body, and the Drexel brand that will seal a graduate's diploma.

Table Tennis IS The Greatest Sport Ever Created

USATT is the national organizing body for table tennis in the United States. Created in 1933 and headquartered in Colorado Springs, it oversees a wide variety of membership services, the national teams, the rules of the game, the Hall of Fame, and more. USATT is affiliated with the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), the world governing body for table tennis, as well as the USOC.

Drexel offers a variety of excursions for students. They occur throughout the year. The events are wide in variety, ranging from X-Games types to events you wouldn't think would be classified as "real" sports.

These events include: rock climbing, skiing, sports trivia night, home run derby, table tennis tournaments, arm wresting competition as well as water basketball among others. New events are added every year. These events provide a fun change of pace for students to enjoy.

At Drexel Men's Basketball is the most popular varsity sport. It is important to note that even though Basketball is the most popular sport, it does not always draw in as large a crowd as other Philadelphia basketball schools that are considered to be part of the historic Big 5. Basketball games are the only sporting events which you need to purchase a ticket. Tickets are easy to come by and rather inexpensive. Basketball games are held in the gymnasium in the DAC. Men's basketball is more popular than women's.

The women\'s field hockey team has become increasingly better in the last few years. They have been able to recruit top athletes to better the squad. Due to their increased success, the hockey team has been attracting more and more students to Buckley field to watch the team.

For the last three years, Drexel\'s field hockey team has been named one of the top five academic teams in the nation by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.

Men's lacrosse teams are often known (to girls) as the shaggy haired cute boys. The Drexel team is no exception.

The men's lacrosse team does well every year. It is rather surprising that the team's games don't draw in a larger crowd.

Be sure to check out the quick feet of the men's lacrosse team on their new home field, Vidas Field. The field is located at 43rd Street and Powelton.
