The Venue
Entering World Caf Live on 30th and Walnut the first thing that enters your mind is, man this place is clean. You then find out that not only is it a clean concert venue, but it also is much bigger then it appears to be when looking in from outside. World Caf Live has two main concert sections which I saw. The first, and smaller section is located upstairs and is much more of a lounge situation then a concert hall. There is a small bar, and tables where you can order very good (and somewhat expensive) food and drinks. At the front of this lounge area is a small stage, about 12 inches off the ground, where performers pack together to entertain. The second of the two stages is a bit more hidden. If you walk past the ticket desk, and continue down the set of stairs in front of you, youll find the entrance to the main stage. Complete with a bar, and a balcony area, the main stage is where you go to get wild and jump around to your favorite musicon the night in question, there was a local battle of the bands going on (quite an interesting scene, which I only attended for a few minutes just to get the feel for it). I returned to the Upstairs lounge to see what I was there to see, Philadelphia Slick opening for Ohmega Watts.
The Show
The atmosphere was much different then I had expected. The first time I saw Philadelphia Slick was on their record release party at North Star bar. Needless to say it was much more high energy then the lounge show at World Caf Live. Philly Slick consists of a 7 person Jazz band and 2 MCs who combine to make some of the most chill, energetic, and dynamic hip hop and jazz fusions since Jurassic Five and The Roots. Philly Slick played a 45 minute set which very much on point, but far too short my likings. Even though the venue clearly wasnt primed for the type of energy they can bring, they still brought it, and put on a great show. Ohmega Watts came on next, but I was much less impressed by his attempt to put on a good show by rapping over beats which were coming from his Apple Mac which replaced the instruments that packed the stage for Philadelphia Slicks performance. I left after 3 songs. All in all, Im sure Ohmega Watts puts on a great show and Ive heard his album which is full of solid tracks, just stood no chance following a great band like Philadelphia Slick.

The Philadelphia Museum of Art has much more to offer than the artistic pieces inside, and I'm not just talking about the Rocky Steps. On Friday evenings at 5, the Great Stair Hall is transformed into an intimate jazz performance. The performers are often well known and are always guaranteed to be great. There is no additional fee for attending the concert. There are appetizers, drinks and deserts.
The Philadelphia Museum of Art is one of the largest art museums in the country. The museum is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10 AM - 5PM. The address is 26th Street and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Admissions cost is $12, which is well worth it, considering that there are over 200,000 works of art.
Expand your horizons with jazz or art. A visit to the Philadelphia Museum of Art is a must while in Philly. You can look at the massive quantity of fine art, listen to some tunes, or pretend that you're Sylvester Stallone and run up the steps all in one visit. On Sunday there is no charge for entrance into the museum.

Don't think that this is like Cannes or Sundance, but the Philly film festival has grown in recent years and is gaining more and more recognition. Films comprise a variety of genres including: world issues, Spanish cinema, family oriented, short films, documentaries and animations amongst others.
Screenings are held at seven venues in the city. All seven venues are located in Center City Philadelphia, with most on Walnut and Chestnut Streets. Tickets are required for all screenings and seats are not reserved.
