When asked, most universities students are extremely satisfied with their experiences at the University of Virginia. Most agree that the University has a lot to offer its students in terms of academics, extracurricular activities, and social experiences.

There are numerous club sports teams and intramural sports teams in which you can participate. There are over a hundred clubs that you can get involved with.

The Greek System is fairly large at UVA and roughly 30% of the student body belongs. Most of the fraternities have large houses where the brotherhood can throw large parties. Every week during the semester, at least one fraternity is throwing a party Thursday, Friday, or Saturday night.

If the fraternity scene is not your thing, there are numerous bars within easy walking distance. The main student bars are located on the “corner” (a shopping district that has local restaurants and shops on the edge of grounds) on Elliewood Avenue. In the past, Biltmore grill has been voted the top college bar by Playboy Magazine.

The bar scene at UVA is pretty good, but the bars can get extremely crowded on weekend nights. If you do not mind crowded areas, good-looking women, and fairly cheap drinks, then you would enjoy the bar scene at UVA.

Many of the graduate/professional students prefer to go out on the Downtown Mall in Charlottesville. The Downtown Mall is a pedestrian mall located 2 miles from UVA grounds that has many restaurants, bars, and local shops. The older crowd tends to spend more time here on weekends than at the corner college bars.
