The St. Louis music scene is excellent, considering it is a mid-major size city. However, the quality of both independent venues and larger arenas make it a suitable place for people to see several bands of several styles.
One of the most beloved music venues in the city is The Pageant, which is located on Delmar in The Loop. One of the great things about the Pageant is that it offers fantastic sound quality and an arena like feel while also maintaining an intimate contact between the band and the audience. Also of note is the fully stocked bar in the back of the venue, as well as a balcony with seating and a tethered off area for all the annoying minors that may be getting in the way of your fun.
At the Pageant, you have several different seating options. As mentioned previously, there is a balcony, which offers a great view of the band at a reasonable price. However, the balcony seating also feels separated from the concert.
If you wish to kind of sit back and watch the concert while enjoying a drink, feel free to sit at one of the tables one the main floor. However, make sure to get there early, as these tables go fast. Be aware also that the sound quality at the back of the main floor is not optimal.
Personally, I like the main floor by the stage. You truly get a sense for the size of the venue, while also being close to the band. The sound quality on the floor is amazing, being crystal clear while not overwhelming with too much fuzz.
The Pageant is a fantastic place to see any type of band. Several prominent indie, punk, comic, rap, and cover bands play this arena. The calendar is jam packed with a great array of today's most beloved bands.
Definitely check out The pageant's calendar for upcoming shows and events.
