When I went to Saint Joseph's University I couldn't make up my mind. So many different majors, so many different paths. When I first started as a freshman I took a nice scholarship and joined the Food Marketing program. Needless to say it's one of the best in the entire country for a reason. Before you leave SJU you will have up to eight interviews with some of the food and service industries top companies. This is all well and good but you have to realize what your getting into. Though you will be getting well paid, you in essence will be selling cream cheese for the rest of your life. At that point I realized that maybe instead of paying the $43,000 dollars a year in a major I really have no interest in, I decided to switch majors.
The major I decided to ultimately switch to was History. All my life I have loved history, and for some reason I was good at tutoring my peers too. So I gave it a shot, not knowing really what I was getting into. I first started taking the general required courses such as Western Civilization 1 and 2. Both who can be taught(if your lucky enough to get him) by Prof. Zeman.
Now some students believed Zeman read straight from the book......well....he did. But what he had that all the other professors didn't have was all real stories behind all of the events in history that you were reading in the book. Who could complain? I mean he was a completely straight forward professor who knew what he was talking about. That in itself is actually pretty hard to find these days in college...but that's just one man's opinion. But in the end the history major was a good choice for me. It was compelling and rich to say the least. GO HAWKS!!
