Saint Thomas of Villanova Day
Article written by an anonymous user.
For the past ten years, Villanova has celebrated Saint Thomas of Villanova Day. This event is usually held on September 8th. This is a big day for everyone going to the school. Classes for students are shortened and pushed back into the day so that all students can attend the day's festivities which begin a little before one o'clock.
The day's events include a liturgy, a convocation, an award ceremony, a parade and a festival. Students say that the whole day is very meaningful and helps to bring together the Villanova community. It is a really special day for freshmen because it is one of the first times that they are being included in the Villanova community and they can see what it is all about.
Students say that the parade and festival are definitely the highlights of the day. The parade takes place in late afternoon and goes from the Pavilion to Austin Field. When the parade arrives at the Pavilion, the festival and dinner begins which is a great opportunity for students. The festival includes dinner and entertainment.
