If you ever stumble upon the opportunity to visit Drexel University, please take the time to visit Powelton Village. This small, historic town located in West Philadelphia is home to one of the greatest breakfast/lunch eateries in the city.
Although the rough appearance may scare some away, you should not pass up the chance to eat here. I assure you, from many trips here I can say that it is well managed, and very clean. For breakfast there are a number of options. The standard however is a Bacon, Egg, and Cheese sandwich or any other meat, egg and cheese sandwich combination for that matter. This succulent delight is served on a long roll, for minimal price of only $2. To compliment this, I recommend getting an order of Kimey's famous home fries. For only an extra $1 why not splurge and enjoy this instant hangover remedy.
The lunch specials are also another reason to make a pilgrimage to Kimey's Place. Much like famous fast food restaurants, Kimey's has its own plethora of value meals to choose from. A vast selection ranging from a traditional Cheeseburger and Fries, to more native Philadelphia specialties like Cheese Steaks, and Fried Fish Sandwiches. These combos are in the $4-5 dollar range, and vary with extras such as a free side of macaroni salad, coleslaw, or soda. Aside from the great food, Kimey's also serves as a local convenience market.
There are no major grocery or chain markets around the Drexel campus, so anything from toilet paper, solo cups, cigarettes, bread, lunch meat, and condiments can call be found here. This really comes in handy mid day when you want to pick up some barbeque items and don't want to lose your parking spot by driving to the supermarket. So, whatever your spontaneous needs may be, Kimey's Place probably has it for you.
