Cafe Gutenberg

This cafe/restaurant/bookstore is reminiscent of the kinds of cafes that you would imagine exist in the best cafe cities. It's located on 1700 E. Main Street in downtown, so its a good twenty minutes from the campus. It's the perfect place to meet a friend, or spent some time reading with a cup of coffee, tea or pastry. The tea selection is nice and they also have a giant cup of hot chocolate called, Mirabelle, which will be worth your time and money.

Don't be fooled by the name, it's not a German restaurant, but they do have a selection of European newspapers for your reading pleasure. Further pleasure in reading can be found with the great selection of books they have available, and if you buy dinner, all books are 25% off. They also have local art on display that you could purchase.

One of the neatest thing about frequenting this place on a Tuesday or Wednesday night is that they have beers (on Tuesday) and wine (Wednesday) for half price, and their wine selection is very tasty so its worth a gander!

The food is surprisingly good for a cafe, I recommend the hummus plate as an appetizer because the hummus is the best I've had in this town, and then anything on the dinner menu (while a little pricey) is flavorful and very satisfying. They also have a decent selection for brunch and the sandwiches are only available for lunch so make sure to take the time to check that out. Leave room for dessert because their tiramisu or banofetti is tremendous.

On top of everything, this place has free wireless, so its a nice place to study, not to mention that the refills are plentiful. It closes at 11pm, so that gives you plentiful of time to enjoy the cafe and all its tasty treats.
