The University of Richmond Archery Club is an organization created for the purpose of rekindling an interest in archery and other less mechanized forms of target shooting. Also, to ensure that the modern man has a secondary method of defense in the event of an apocalyptic occurrence that terminates all forms of technology and similar progressive advancements, the club focuses on building a character independent from both the mental and physical constraints of modern society.
Just kidding. ;) The UR Archery Club is a newly re-created club for mainly recreational archery, although if members would like to participate in competitive shooting it's possible. Everyone is welcome, from beginners who have never held nor seen a bow, to the more advanced archers with shooting experience.
The club's current goal is to get funding from the university, so we can purchase enough equipment for a basic shoot (location to be determined.) Once that's done, our hope is that we will be able to meet once every week or so, journey to open field, and let loose some arrows for a couple of hours. Instruction is provided for those with no personal experience or for anyone interested.
We do have reasonably strict safety guidelines that will be provided and reviewed before we commence shooting that follow the international competition regulations.
