A toast...to Cornell

To wearing flip-flops in 6 feet of snow. To walking over one or more bridges to get to class. To variations of the Ithaca is Gorges shirt including: Ithaca is Gangsta, Ithaca is Westchester, Ithaca is Cold, Ithaca is * Freezing. To Wings, which are actually amazing chicken fingers. To Big Red Bucks. To outerwear: rainy-warm, rainy-cold, snowy-warm, snowy-cold, windy, "ithacating", slushy. To knowing everyone that actually leaves their room, despite the fact that there are 14,000 undergrads.

To going out on the weekends relatively cost-free (well at least monetarily). To going to the library just to people watch. To beer pong and flip cup…on the front lawn of 304 Bryant. To walking into a room and seeing a toga, a hooker, and a golf pro - it isn’t a joke, it’s afterhours. To Wegmans. To cold weather because it means less rain. To Collegetown Bagels, especially the pizza bagels and sangria. To group therapy at Dunbar’s. To prelims and the aftermath at the bars.

To “We Didn’t Go to Harvard.” To walks of shame. To strides of pride. To Oy Palms, dancing on the tables, and getting in trouble for it but that never stopped me. To endless construction in Collegetown. To no parking in Collegetown. To expensive housing in Collegetown. To saki bombing. To Lakewatch. To formals in general. To theme parties, especially 80s night and tacky formal. To long RPU dinners and brunches freshman year. To illegal sledding. To the Dairy Bar. To Statler salads. To Smoothie Hut. To wine tours. To booze cruises. To Johnny O’s and 80s night, and the fact that they never forget to play “Africa” or “Your Love.”

To those who wear shorts everyday of the year. To the creation of Facebook our sophomore year. To wearing skirts out in 40 degree weather. To e-mails from Denise Cassaro. To spring break, where Cornell takes over a bar/club no matter the tropical location. To gorge jumping. To the Cornell-sponsored day for getting drunk: SLOPE DAY. To Dragon Day, even if you didn’t go. To the Collegetown Creeper. To Trillium, before it had a 2nd floor. To a mandatory swim test. To afterhours because last call at the bars is at 1. To all of collegetown gathering outside of Collegetown Pizza late-night because last call at the bars is at at 1. To tailgating at homecoming and not going to the game. To sorority rush and fraternity pledging. To gym courses such as Swedish Massage, Sailing, and Rock climbing.

To getting up at 7:30am for course enroll, but not being able to log on until 7:37am and getting a terrible schedule. To walking 20 minutes to get to class no matter how close you live to campus. To Jasons. To Tasti-D. To bartabs. To bar-crawls. To pregaming until midnight. To losing something when you go out - underwear, a camera, dignity (to name a few). To chugging in the bathrooms of any given Collegetown bar. To being high above Cayugas’ waters. To Level B, the only "nightclub" in all of Collegetown. To Pixel, even if you’ve only been there once (because once is usually enough). To waking up and crying. To waking up and throwing up. To waking up, remembering the night before, and realizing it was worth it. To college. To the best four years of my life...

To Cornell.
