At George Washington University, clubs and extracurricular activities are a major part of life. A group exists for any interest ? from anime to activism. Student organizations often seem to outweigh class studies at GW, but in reality they compliment academics by offering internships, guest speakers, alternative points of view and opportunities to excel and have fun.

GW Trails

GW trails organizes hiking trips, rafting excursions, rock climbing and more. Trails trips are the perfect way to escape the city for a weekend, meet new people, and have a good time in the great outdoors. Wooden Teeth

Wooden Teeth is a small art and literary magazine run entirely by students. Issues are put out twice a year (once a semester) showcasing some of GWU?s talent in poetry, short stories, painting, drawing and photography. For students interested in pursuing a career in the arts, this magazine offers a great opportunity for exposure. Many students may thrive in the environment this group provides, but others might not be well suited to its more idiosyncratic tastes.

Colonial Pep Band

The George Washington University, as a competitor in the NCAA basketball league, comes equipped with its very own pep band. The Colonial Pep Band plays enthusiastically at every home game and accompanies the team on championship games. With few exceptions the members of this ensemble are very relaxed and friendly, and have a good sense of camaraderie. If you are a sports fan and a musician to boot, this is a great organization to join. However, there is a high level of commitment expected in attendance, and positions are based mainly upon seniority.
