1835 Hinman is a smaller dorm located on the south end of campus and on the east side of Sheridan road. Hinman is organized in suite style living: two singles and three doubles located around a common room. While the living situation seems plush on paper, many past residents felt isolated and the social butterfly will probably feel stifled. The suite style set-up makes it harder to meet people (outside of you suite) which can be frustrating for freshman.

Rooms on the first floor have high ceilings which make the living space feel bigger. Otherwise the rooms are comparable in size to the bigger dorms, like Bobb-McCulloch. One advantage to the suite-style arrangement is that residents share bathrooms with fewer people. Hinman is also a good option for those looking for singles as a freshman.

The location of Hinman is convenient for classes on south campus, but quite the trek up to Tech and Francis Searle. Hinman residents with rooms on the east side of the building have a beautiful view of the lake.

The dining hall is located on the first floor. Its smaller size means less options so the quality of food is a toss up on a day to day basis. Laundry, the mailroom and an ice machine are all available in the basement.
