written word, forever, the original

Article ArchivePure Information

Interpreting the written word is the best and most reliable way to learn. It is difficult, however, "especially in this day and age", to find time to read. Books are being replaced by Websites at a rapid rate. Younger generations seem to enjoy a more interactive atmosphere when they are learning because we like to be simultaneously entertained. It is easier to pay attention to movies and music compared to books and articles. Sometimes it seems like everyone just likes to look at the pictures. Well, this is not a mens' magazine.

Micro-brewery Heaven Being a college student, beer becomes an unavoidable aspect of your college experience- and it is a great addition when you live in a city like Philadelphia. The city of brotherly love is known for many things, but one attribute that stands out is it's incredible beer culture. From the time of our founding fathers, when the local taverns in the late 1800s, Philly the brewing capital of the country. Beer has been part of the “social fabric” of this city. Today...

Cavanaugh's: The Happiest Place on Earth
Cavanaugh's "campusdeck" located on 39th and Sansom, is the Cheers equivalent of Drexel University. On any given night you can always count on Cav's to be a good time whether you're looking to grab some drinks or get dinner (great wings and crab dip!). Drinks are decently priced and you will quickly make friends with the entire Cav's staff (especially Brian Kravitz - the big guy at the door) Wednesday nights aka College Night (best night of the week) is the biggest night at Cav's. For a $5 co...

Drinkers Pub Center City Philadelphia
Drinkers Pub Center City Drinkers Pub offers a little bit of everything for everyone. With its prime Chestnut Street, center city location, it becomes the ideal happy hour spot for those grinding the 9-5 hours. After making your way passed the fairly large and incognito doorman you will quickly notice the Elvis Presley décor and rock music, which thumps off of the wood and tin surroundings. Of course, if you get denied at the door you can always try and sneak in through the enormous front wi...

UPenn Parking
Parking tends to be a bit tricky and many times becomes a hassle. The university operates a good amount of parking lots and garages, but the daily demand for parking always outstrips supply. Parking in university-operated lots is by permit only. Permits may be obtained from the Penn Parking office for a fee, and are valid for one year. More information about parking can be found at Street parking, while more readily available, can also be a hassle. Street parking is limited to two hours...

No Letters Necessary
Just because you are not involved in Greek life does not mean you will not have a social life. Although frats are pretty much the only source for big parties at Temple, other clubs and organizations know how to have a good time too. Getting involved in clubs in college is always a good idea, and partying with your new group of friends is an added perk. Organizations such as Student Government set up events, concerts, and get-togethers, and a couple times a year they may rent out a hall to throw...

Chicago's Lake Front Bike Path
One great way to explore Chicago is by bicycle. In fact, if you have a day to kill and some energy, I highly recommend you start in Rogers Park where the lake front trail starts, and ride it as far South as you can. Or, take it until you get a little tired, get off it and you'll probably be in the middle of one neighborhood or another. Ride west and check the neighborhood out or get back on the trail. The trail will take you through Lincoln Park, past the Zoo. Goethe admirers will enjo...

College: What's The Point Of Going?
If it's going to put you in debt and you don't have something you're really burning to study, I wouldn't recommend going to college straight out of high school. I went right away to placate my parents, who thought it was the best thing for me. I had never supported myself, had never worked a full time job, didn't appreciate college while I was there. While I was in school studying English, I just wanted to be traveling the world and playing music. I hated a lot of my classes, a lot of th...
